Welcome to my latest lesson lesson looking at how to play Heat Of The Moment By Asia.
Heat Of The Moment is a great workout for anyone learning to play Chord inversion. Please check out my beginners lesson on Chord Inversions
The song is ideal to the beginner to intermediate guitar player who is starting to use barre chords and playing chords in an arpeggio style through the use of inversions.
“Heat of the Moment” was the first hit single released by English progressive rock supergroup Asia from their 1982 eponymous debut. It reached #4 in both the Canadian Singles chart and on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. It was written by singer and bass guitarist John Wetton, and keyboardist Geoff Downes.
The single climbed to the top position on the U.S. Billboard Mainstream Rock chart, remaining six non-consecutive weeks at #1 in the spring and summer of 1982.
Asia – Heat Of The Moment – Tabs
Asia are an English progressive rock band formed in London in 1981. The most commercially successful line-up was its original, which was a supergroup of four members of different progressive rock bands of the 1970s, including lead vocalist and bassist John Wetton of King Crimson, guitarist Steve Howe of Yes, keyboardist Geoff Downes of Yes and the Buggles, and drummer Carl Palmer of Emerson, Lake & Palmer. What a great pedigree for a band.
Guthrie Govan also spent a number of years playing guitar with the band from 2001- 2006 until Steve Howe rejoined the band for thew Asia reunion tour. Later Steve Howe would retire.
The current guitar duties are now carried out by Sam Coulson. My apologies for getting your name incorrect during the lesson. here is a link to Sam’s Youtube channel. Well worth checking it out.
