In this lesson we will learn how to play the Am Chord
You will find the fingering for the Am chord very familiar if you have been following the course guide.
As you can see the shape formed by the finger is the same as the E chord but played 1 string lower. The Low E string is not played in this chord and can be muted by using the thumb. You can practice moving from the Am chord to the E chord. The sound has a very Italian/Spanish tonality to it. You can almost smell the Pizza.
Also listen to the sound of this chord. Previously we have been learning all major chords that have a happy cheerful sound. The minor chords have a sad melancholy sound that are used by song writers when composing ballads and very emotional songs.
Listen to the audio clip and compare the sound against your chord
